Fair questions
Everything peopleactually ask.
Ten questions, zero spin. If yours isn't here, text (512) 555-0142 and a coach will answer between sets — usually within the hour during gym hours.
How does the free week actually work?
You text or book online, we schedule a quick movement screen, and then you take unlimited classes for seven days. No card on file, no awkward cancellation call — at the end of the week you either join or you don't. About 8 in 10 join, which is why we can afford to be this relaxed about it.
I'm not in shape. Should I wait until I am?
This is the most common question we get and the answer is a loving no. Getting in shape is what the gym is for — showing up already fit is not a prerequisite, it's the outcome. Foundations exists specifically so beginners start with four weeks of patient, small-group instruction. Come as you are. Everyone did.
What does 'capped at 8' really mean? Are there exceptions?
It means the booking system stops at eight and no human can override it — not for friends, not for January. The cap is the product: it's the number where a coach can genuinely watch every rep of every person. If a class is full, the app shows the next open slot, and there are 40+ classes a week.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Everything is month-to-month, and you cancel with two taps in the app or one text — no exit interview, no retention specialist, no 'let me get my manager.' We'd rather earn next month than lock you into it. Members who leave for a while usually come back, partly because leaving was painless.
What are the coaches' qualifications?
Every coach on our floor holds the CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or is in the supervised final stage of earning it, plus CPR/AED. Dre, the owner, has coached strength for over a decade including D1 sprinters. We're a strength gym run by strength professionals — nobody's teaching your deadlift because they were free on Tuesdays.
I have an old injury. Can I still train?
Almost certainly — old injuries are half our membership's origin story. Your free-week movement screen is where we map it: what hurts, what's cleared, what your PT or doctor has said. We program around and eventually through it. What we won't do is play doctor: if something needs medical eyes first, we'll say so and hold your spot.
How fast will I actually see results?
Strength moves quickly at first: most beginners add serious weight to every lift inside their first 8-week block, because your nervous system learns fast even before muscle shows up. Visible body-composition change typically follows in months two to four, faster with nutrition coaching. What we won't promise is a six-pack by South By. Trend lines, not miracles.
What should I bring / wear / know for my first class?
Flat shoes if you have them (Vans count, running shoes are fine to start), water, and clothes you can squat in. That's it — we have chalk, we have the bars, and we have a strict no-mirror-flexing culture that makes the whole thing about 80% less intimidating than you're imagining. Show up 10 minutes early and your coach handles the rest.
Do you do drop-ins for people visiting Austin?
Yes — traveling lifters can drop into a coached class for $25 or grab a week for $60. Text us the day before with your training background so the coach can slot you into the day's block sensibly. We're 10 minutes from downtown and we've adopted many a conference attendee for a week.
Why 8-week blocks instead of just... working out?
Because random workouts produce random results. A block means every session builds on the last one: weeks 1–3 build volume, 4–6 add intensity, 7 peaks, 8 tests. You see the plan, you watch the numbers climb, and testing week gives the whole gym playoff energy. Working out makes you tired. A program makes you strong. We're dogmatic about exactly this one thing.
The first week is free. The excuses are on you.
Seven days, unlimited classes, a movement screen with a real coach, and not a single sales call. Worst case, you learn to deadlift.
